And so when the company recently had the chance to advance its global communications network, it jumped at the chance.
Eyeing the Future of Voice
As a global and decentralized organization, Avery relies on advanced communications to keep its operations afloat. With team members and customers scattered around the globe, being able to communicate over time and space reliably can mean the difference between project success or failure.
So when its legacy network fell out-of-date, the manufacturer knew it was time to investigate a progressive solution.
Investigating The Cloud
Familiar with advances in VoIP technologies, Avery was particularly interested in learning how such a migration to the Cloud could serve them. But they also knew they didn’t want to go at the investigation alone. Instead, they wanted a telecom management provider with the deep experience needed to walk them through the process. They also wanted a provider who was intimately familiar with the complex IT challenges of an enterprise-level company.
Impressed by LinkSource’s Cloud strategy work, Avery was confident LinkSource was the right fit for its own Cloud migration strategy.
Finding the Right Partner to the Cloud
To get started, LinkSource ran a full analysis of Avery’s entire communications infrastructure — including all equipment and existing contracts. Next, LinkSource conducted an extensive interview process with various Avery stakeholders.
The purpose of the interviews was to identify Avery’s philosophy on a Cloud-first environment, its overall readiness for the change, as well as its desired goals for the transition.
Together, Avery and LinkSource determined the goals of the migration to the Cloud were to achieve:
- Cost savings across its entire communications network
- Minimal effort for and disruption caused by the Cloud deployment
- Strong employee adoption of the change
- Full compatibility with their existing G-Suite environment
The Results – A Mapped Out Journey to The Cloud
Using Avery’s goals as their focus, LinkSource then devised a Cloud migration strategy to guide the manufacturer’s transition. The deployment strategy detailed every step of Avery’s move to the Cloud, including the timeline as well as identifying the Cloud provider who would eventually host Avery’s infrastructure.
Designing a Tailored Transition Timeline
No two enterprises are the same. Similarly, no two Cloud migrations will be entirely the same — what makes sense for one organization may not work with the realities of another.
And so it went with Avery’s Cloud transition. After evaluating Avery’s unique communication requirements, LinkSource determined that the best course of action would be to follow a hybrid-Cloud approach. Following this approach, Avery would begin to transition a portion of its communication infrastructure to the Cloud while maintaining other core units within its onsite server until an appropriate transition date.
Picking The Right Cloud Provider
Under LinkSource’s guidance, Avery landed on a Cloud provider (RingCentral) who could accommodate each of its unique global communications needs. As a smaller vendor, RingCentral and their reputation for providing excellent one-on-one customer service were particularly appealing to Avery.
Add to that, RingCentral’s full compatibility with G-Suite (a must for Avery’s Google-first work environment), and the vendor choice couldn’t have been more ideally suited.
